Who We Are
Jerome Lacoste - Energy Ski Originating from the Pyrenees, Jerome is a mountain man through and through. He has lived in the Alps in Champagny-en-Vanoise now for 13 years and has taught all over the ski areas of the 3 Valleys, Paradiski and the Espace Killy, and knows them like the back of his hand. Jerome's skiing CV is exceptional - he started skiing at the age of 4 with the local ski club, and rapidly became a tough adversary in the regional competitions. Knee injuries prevented him from going any further but on returning to skiing at the age of 21, gained the French Instructor qualification in record time before setting off for the Northern Alps in search of more plentiful snow. Welcomed by the Champagny Ski Club (La Plagne) as the new ski coach, he proceeded to raise the ski level beyond recognition. In 2000 he set his sights higher and joined the Courchevel Club des Sports, one of the largest ski clubs in France with over 250 members. His role: to train the local teenagers, from the age of 14 upwards, to become ski instructors in their own right. Jerome is an outstanding skier with a great comprehension of "why" the different skiing methods work. He is trained in both French and English ski qualifications – having gained the French BEES 1° degré (1992) and the English BASI ISTD Level 4 (2007). He brings the best from both countries' ski qualifications to his lessons; added to which Jerome has taught numerous winter seasons for 3 Valleys ski companies including New Generation Ski School (3 years), ESF (6 years) and Energy Ski is now in its 3rd year. Having taught in both French and English to multinational clients, Jerome knows how to adapt his lessons to the benefit of his clients using a rich and informative vocabulary easy to understand. Jerome is also a coach of ski instructors and to date has trained over 900 ski instructors to pass the Eurotest, the European qualification required to become a ski instructor in France, Italy and Austria. He is a racing expert who has experience of teaching coaching techniques to a high level. Fluent in English and speaking Spanish, Jerome has married into an English family and spends much time speaking English both in France and on trips to England. He is particularly passionate about enabling skiers to achieve their potential, and is a success with both beginner clients and confirmed skiers.
